Pickett Commercial Trumpet Backbore

All Pickett mouthpieces are designed and manufactured in-house ensuring superior and unsurpassed quality. Every mouthpiece, whether trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, or french horn is hand inspected for defects and polished with the utmost care to maintain the precision dimensions and tolerances. Pickett uses several state of the art CNC machines and skilled finishing to produce the world class quality trim sets in a variety of weights and appearances.

One of a kind mouthpiece backbores.  There are seven different styles to compliment any playing situation.  All brushed finished.

The Pickett Brass #10 series backbores offer an overall different feel than the standard line. Available in many throat options.

Backbore: R

Offers a slightly more open feel than the V, and C4 backbore.  The R backbore is a great option for players who love the articulation and response of the V, and C4 backbore, but wish for the extreme upper register to offer less resistance when pushed.  Applications - Lead Trumpet/Commercial/Piccolo Trumpet/Soloistic playing

Backbore: V

Extremely responsive with impeccable articulation throughout the full register of the horn.  The backbore offers great resistance creating an efficient and fast air-stream.  Applications - Lead Trumpet/Commercial/Piccolo Trumpet/Soloistic playing

Backbore: C4

Produces a more aggressive sound than the 10-5, which aids in sound projection when playing with electronic instruments.  Very responsive with quick articulations, and creates that 'zing' in the sound if that is desired.  Applications - Lead Trumpet/Commercial/Piccolo Trumpet/Soloistic playing

Do Pickett Brass backbores and mouthpieces affect my gap?

The diameter of our backbores and one piece shanks is 0.385".  Every mouthpiece receiver is different - so we recommend checking the leadpipe/mouthpiece gap and adjusting to find the optimal gap for you.  If you'd like to adjust your gap, you can request your backbore or one piece mouthpiece manufactured with a shank to access Reeves sleeves.  Or we can custom make a shank with the diameter of your choice.
