The melody used for this extremely fun two-minute sea-faring shanty was originally a hymn-tune called "Master, Son of God," composed in 2020 specifically as a sight-reading and transposition excercise by Dr. Thrower. With the Mayflower's 400th anniversary of landing at presend-day Cape Cod in 1620, this maritime melody made the perfect musical memorial. Great counterpoint and surprising modulations! Due to Covid-19, no live performance took place in the quadricentennial year 2020. Recordings, however, eventually found their way onto YouTube, Facebook, and other social media platforms to commemorate the colonizing voyage.
