La Luta Interna (Internal Struggle), Dr. Daniel Thrower

Composed by Dr. Daniel Thrower. Duration: 3:00. This spectacular trio was commissioned by the São Paulo Brass Trio and inspired by the title of their 2019 album. The introductory turbulent feel of the work intimately involves all three players. There is little respite for the nearly two and a half busy minutes of music. The copious rhythmic and motivic interplay presents an outward expression of an internal struggle. Ultimately, the aural painting of this work portrays the victory of one's decision to conquer the struggle, epitomizing the composer's adopted mantra: "It's OK to have a bad day; don't let it turn into a bad week!" This trio is destined to become a standard in the brass trio genre!
