Van Laar Flugelhorns

Flugelhorns are versatile instruments, adapting to the style of musician. They sound warm and provide an excellent intonation. Their appearance is stable and robust.

Hub van Laar founded his company in 1990 in Margraten, near Maastricht. Beginning as a workshop for brass wind instruments, the company expanded rapidly under the direction of Hub van Laar and Heidrun Jöchner to become an enterprise of world repute.
A team of experts are building in a traditionally way the brass wind instruments of Hub van Laar and adds the most modern production technologies.

Bound by tradition, every instrument undergoes rigorous testing before it leaves the workshop.
As said before musicians from the most renowned orchestras, big bands and ensembles all over the world are among the customers of Hub van Laar.

Van Laar OIRAM Fresu Flugelhorn

Like the OIRAM trumpet, the OIRAM flugelhorn was designed by the Belgian architect Mario Garzaniti. It is constructed with a very large bell, a heavy valve unit and curved slides, which guarantee very light wind resistance. The sound in the middle register is cloudy and smoky, but it can be augmented to achieve great power in the top register. Bore, 10.5 mm (0,413") Heavy weight valves One-piece hand-hammered bell, bell material gold brass, bell diameter 160 mm (6,299")
Van Laar OIRAM Ack Flugelhorn
$3,950.00
This instrument, with its flexible sound, intonation and projection, was developed in close cooperation with Ack van Rooyen. As was the case with our OIRAM trumpets and OIRAM flugelhorn, the present instrument was designed by the Belgian architect Mario Garzaniti. The new conical taper and the curved slides guarantee a light response. The sound is full and can be augmented to achieve great power in the top register. This flugelhorn was specially developed so that it can be clearly heard without a microphone while never losing its special flugelhorn sound.
