Monette C1-1D Trumpet Mouthpiece
A slightly deepened version of the C1-1, this is the deepest mouthpiece for all-around playing Monette has ever made. Used by Andrew Balio, principal trumpet of the Israel Philharmonic. Also used by John Aley of the Wisconsin Brass Quintet, formerly with the American Brass Quintet.

Monette C1-1 S1 Trumpet Mouthpiece
This new model has a deep, S-Series (SLAP!) cup. It provides a huge volume and depth of sound with an immediate, fast response. The mouthpiece has a unique round rim with an unusually deep cup. It is the largest standard mouthpiece Monette makes, and is recommended for only the most advanced players. This mouthpiece was designed for Ed Cord, Professor of Trumpet at Indiana University.

Monette C1-2 S3 Trumpet Mouthpiece
The deep, bowl-shaped cup and a flat, fairly sharp rim make this mouthpiece a favorite for orchestral players who prefer a large, robust sound. The slap cup model is very popular, as it provides a livelier sound and a faster response for most players than the standard B1-2. Used by Dennis Ferry, Principal Trumpet of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva, Switzerland.

Monette C1-3D S5 Trumpet Mouthpiece
We decided to revisit the original Monette mouthpiece design with the idea of an update after our friend Jerry Webster kept hearing his students playing our "SLAP" mouthpieces with great success. Jerry, who has used a B1-3 since the first one was made, asked us to design a new mouthpiece for him, and we had a great time working with our old friend.
(Please note that the S5 designation in this model refers to the computer design file number, not a specific cup shape. Therefore, the C1-3 S5 is a very different mouthpiece with a completely different cup shape than the similarly named B1-1 S5. More often than not, different rim contours require different cup shapes in order to produce similar and successful results.

Monette C1-3 S5 Trumpet Mouthpiece
When news of our "SLAP" mouthpieces spread, Calvin Price was among the first on our list to test several new variations of our C1-5M series mouthpiece. Although Calvin enjoyed the benefits of the new "SLAP" cup designs, he again approached Dave Monette to see how it could be made even better. To our surprise, the solution was to change the rim contour for Calvin, despite the fact that he had played on 1-5 rim mouthpieces exclusively for nearly two decades!
This new mouthpiece is an update of the original Monette mouthpiece rim design, and has the exact same "SLAP" cup as the C1-1 S5 model. It is great for players who like large size rim and cup mouthpieces with a round rim contour, but not as round as the C1-1. You can hear Calvin demonstrate this mouthpiece playing principal trumpet with the San Diego Symphony, as well as in several film score recordings.

Monette C1-4 S6 Trumpet Mouthpiece
This new model is designed for orchestral trumpet playing with a vengeance! It has the widest inside rim diameter of any standard Monette mouthpiece, with a very aggressive "SLAP" cup. The wide inside rim diameter helps the player produce a wide, full sound, and the unique cup shape helps the player "spin" the sound at all dynamic levels. The rim contour is between the C1-2 and C1-5M - but closer to the sharper C1-2. Fantastic for all orchestral playing, and very easy in the upper register. The deep cup of this mouthpiece is the same depth as the C1-1, but the rim is the same as the other C1-5 series mouthpieces. Great for orchestral work or for use by players who prefer a very large mouthpiece.

Monette C1-5M S12 Trumpet Mouthpiece
This is an all-new "SLAP" mouthpiece, designed for players who like the B1-5M rim. It has an aggressive, well pronounced "S" shaped cup, which helps produce a large, vibrant sound at all dynamic levels. As with the C1-4 S6, this model has a rich stable sound in the low register and is very easy to play up into the extreme upper register on C trumpet. This model was designed for Calvin Price, Los Angeles studio recording artist and principal trumpet of the San Diego Symphony.

Monette C1-5 S4 Trumpet Mouthpiece
The C trumpet version of the B1-5 S4. Monette designed this model at Scotty Barnhart's request in '08, just before he recorded his first solo CD, "Say It Plain." After having heard the positive results other players experienced with new SLAP mouthpieces, Scotty asked if an upgrade to his B1-5 mouthpiece would be possible in time for the CD recording. Dave Monette got on the computer and drew up several variations, retaining Scotty's B1-5 rim but with different degrees of SLAP cups. He settled right away on the S4 version, and Scotty immediately found the mouthpiece provided a snappier, more stable response, with easier register extremes and better projection --- all the usual benefits our new "SLAP" mouthpieces are known for. We're happy that the new design worked so well that Scotty used the new mouthpiece on his recording, and has never looked back. Thanks Scotty!

The C trumpet version---the C2M S3---is only a few months old as of this writing, but is already used by two of the most well known trumpet teachers in the country: Professor Charles Gorham of Indiana University and Professor Keith Johnson of the University of North Texas.

Monette C2G S3 Trumpet Mouthpiece
This mouthpiece was adapted from our very popular C2 S3 model. It has exactly the same rim and cup design, however, the cup is two and a half thousandths of an inch deeper. This is a small but noticeable increase in cup volume, which helps players who would like just a little more volume and depth of sound than they can achieve with a C2 S3, while retaining all of its positive qualities. While it was originally designed as an orchestral mouthpiece, it has also become quite popular with jazz players who like SLAP designs and want slightly more body of sound than they get with a B2 S3.

Many players like the rim feel of a C2, but want something just a little smaller. Or even more commonly, they play a C3 and they want something just a little larger---but they find the B2 is too large. This mouthpiece really feels like its own size---and it does produce a larger sound than the B3 without losing the intimacy many classical chamber musicians need.

Monette C3F S7 Trumpet Mouthpiece
For years musicians have asked us for a mouthpiece between a B2 and a B3 in size with a comfortable rim, a huge sound, and an extra-quick response. Here it is: the new B3F S7 mouthpiece, designed for Seattle recording artist, Adam Rapa. This mouthpiece is Adam's main mouthpiece for all-around playing. The rim is slightly flatter and has a bit more of a cushion contour than the B3 or B2, with an inside diameter falling between the two sizes. The cup shape is an extreme SLAP with a relative depth of 5.5 on our scale; this is between the depth of our B6 and B2 models, slightly closer to the B6. The extreme SLAP cup shape provides a very large cup volume for its depth, which helps the player produce a remarkably full sound for a mouthpiece of this size. The shape of the cup also provides help in the upper register.

Slightly smaller than the C2 listed above, this model has a brilliant sound and an easy upper register. Sometimes preferred by players with a naturally dark sound. Used by Joakim Agnas, principal trumpet of the Stockholm Royal Opera and founding member of the Stockholm Chamber Brass.

Monette C3F FL Trumpet Mouthpiece
This the Adam Rapa B3F S7 mouthpiece, made in a trumpet configuration but with a FLUMPET cup. We make these special, deep V-shaped cup mouthpieces with various rim sizes for both classical and jazz players all the time. They provide a great way to completely change your sound and are sometimes used when a player does not want to carry two horns to a performance. These FLUMPET cup mouthpieces are also great for warming down after a long set. They have lots of room and accommodate swollen chops when necessary, and can provide a great way to give your chops a break on a long gig. Perfect for ballads.

Monette C4 S3 Trumpet Mouthpiece
The SLAP cup version of the B4. The SLAP mouthpieces hold intensity better at soft dynamics, and offer a wider variety of articulation. When you play aggressively on them, the impact at the start of each note can sound and even feel like a "slap!" The top part of the cup is slightly more bowl shaped, which helps produce a larger sound. The "turn" of the "S" in the cup profile (where the mouthpiece cup turns from concave to convex) is more pronounced, making the mouthpiece more efficient for a faster response. The bottom of the cup has a more generous blend into the throat, which produces larger "targets" on every note so the mouthpiece is more forgiving to play.

Monette C5 Trumpet Mouthpiece
With a slightly smaller diameter than the C4, this model has a pronounced inner edge to the rim and a deep "V" cup. Best suited for players looking for a smaller C trumpet mouthpiece and an unusually dark sound.

Monette C6 S1 Trumpet Mouthpiece
The C trumpet version of the B6 S1. Atlanta lead trumpet player Ron Turner asked Dave Monette several years ago if there were any way to improve on the B6 mouthpiece he had played for years. After spending some time on the computer and making prototypes, we came up with the B6 S1 mouthpiece. It has exactly the same rim as the B6, and has a SLAP cup that helps the player produce a better sound, while providing an even faster response.
